Grape farmers in Nashik faced severe red (fire) ant infestation damaging vines and plant health. Existing chemical methods were unsafe for grapes or ineffective long-term.
The Solution
- Field trial of Natural Ant Gel across 5 locations with Sahyadri Farms and Pestosys field experts.
- Trial period: July–August 2022 · Crop: Grapes · Area: 1 acre per 500 ml.
- Spot baiting with Ant Gel plus sugar/puffed rice as bait carrier.
Results
- 100% reduction in red ant activity within 24 hours.
- No re-infestation observed for several weeks.
- No adverse impact on grape plants or surrounding environment.
- Farmers expressed high satisfaction and recommended large-scale usage.
