The Problem
Farmers in Manapparai and Thiruverumbur blocks reported major crop damage due to wild bison and rodents, especially in groundnut fields. Daytime raids had become a serious threat to yield and food security.
The Solution
- CREA conducted a field trial of Animal Out – Natural Animal Repellent at Puthanaththam village, Trichy.
- Date of spray: 06 August 2024 · Crop: Groundnut · Area covered: 5 acres.
- Dosage: 1 ml per litre of water, applied as a single spray at animal entry points.
Results
- Zero animal entry for 30 days from a single spray.
- Rodent activity visibly reduced in the trial plots.
- Local farmers reported high satisfaction.
Impact
A single low-dose spray held off wild bison and rodents for a full month in a high food-security risk zone.
